• I love Historic Hotels America and am willing to forgive eccentricities - do not come here if you lust after modern cookie-cutter chains of hotels. This is a one-off beautiful old building with some differences. On arrival we were greeted with a smile and taken to our room which, to be honest, did have a bit of a musty smell but after a few hours and the air conditioning it went away - to be expected in an old cotton warehouse on the river. The paddle boat was moored outside our window which was the icing on the cake! The beds were comfortable and all the accruements worked i.e. towels, bathroom, coffee etc. The hotel is perfectly located on river and in the historic district. Walking everywhere is the way to go in Savannah as the squares are gorgeously shady and green. We went to the reception almost every night and enjoyed the healthy options of vegetables and humus etc - a pleasant change from the unhealthy options often available - that didn't stop us having a glass or two of bubbly served by a wonderful lady behind the bar. Surprise, surprise!! Totally delicious praline biscuits on the bed every night!! What a bonus!! The hotel also had coffees-to-go and water in the lobby. I loved the age and ancient bricks (probably made on a plantation by slave labour) in the lower levels - recommend this hotel to all those who enjoy history and not modernity.

  • Ms. Jackie the bartender was wonderful. We were informed upon check in about happy hour which was toward the end of it and she took great care of us making us feel welcome after the travel. She was friendly and able to answer questions around the area. The hotel's charm - its rich reminders of history is beautiful incorporated into the hotel. The room was spacious and since we had a room with balcony and view to the river it was exactly what expected. Even on a weekend it did not become too noisy. The staff overall was helpful, very friendly and welcoming!

  • From our first steps into the hotel, we were made so welcomed. We experienced outstanding support at the front desk and happy, helpful maids on the hall. Miss Jackie poured generous glasses of wine with a big smile and friendly demeanor. The free happy hour service allows guests to mingle and adds to friendly ambience in the halls. We will return here at any opportunity to travel this way again.

  • Our 3rd time staying there over the past couple years. As always, we LOVE it. Cozy, charming rooms, extremely clean, quiet. Super friendly staff, at the front desk, valet parking, and bar. Really nice free happy hour in late afternoons. We have no complaints, only praise for this historic Inn.

  • We always spend a few days here prior to going to our timeshare on Tybee Island. I can also say that each review in the past has had some little nuances that were a bit frustrating, but this year there are no complaints or concerns at all! We opted for a single queen room with a balcony and everything about the room was fantastic. Very comfortable room, no odors, A/C worked perfect, the view of River Street was great and the location of the room in the hotel could not have been better. The outdoor porch area on the side of the building was very comfortable as we spent a lot of time there just watching people, admiring the view of the area and just being relaxed with a nice breeze. We did take advantage of their wine and cheese hour this year and the lady taking care of that was very efficient, friendly and helpful. The staff in general was top notch and everyone would go out of their way to make sure we had a comfortable and relaxing stay. We always stay here because it's the best location for access to River Street, Huey's, Tubby's and also to everything on Bay Street. This year was the best and we certainly plan on being back next year and asking for that same room. We loved it, only wish we could stay longer.
