Shop the River Street Market Place
If you’re looking for something to bring home, be sure and browse through the River Street Market Place next to Joe’s Crab Shack. This open-air market has all kinds of handmade goods, from candles and key chains to artwork, as well as all kinds of clothing, trinkets, antiques and unique finds.
Find Fresh Seafood
If you’re looking for some fresh seafood then you’ve come to the right place! River Street has a wide array of eateries that offer all kinds of delicious fried, grilled, sautéed and seasoned seafood. Whether you want to stop by Huey’s or Tubby’s (both right next door to us) or head over to The Shrimp Factory or Fiddler’s Crab House, we hope you enjoy the local catches at the great restaurants on River Street!
Go on a Riverboat Cruise
Savannah Riverboat Cruises offers all kinds of fun cruises on the Savannah River. They have sightseeing and lunch cruises the whole family can enjoy, as well as entertainment, dinner and moonlight cruises perfect for a night of romance.
See the statues
There are monuments all around the city that share different parts of Savannah’s history with those strolling around town and River Street is no exception. Right along the Savannah River, you’ll not only find the Waving Girl and Olympic Cauldron, but also “Cracked Earth,” the African American Monument, Old Harbor Light and the anchor.
Take the free ferry across the river
Hop on the Savannah Belle Ferry and get a new view of Savannah’s Riverfront. This free ferry runs every day from 7 a.m. until midnight with 30-minute intervals. It has three stops – River Street at City Hall, River Street at Waving Girl Landing by the Marriott and across the river on Hutchinson Island at the Savannah International Trade & Convention Center (adjacent to the Westin). Watch the cargo ships go by at Tubby’s
Get a great view from Tubby’s second story balcony while enjoying the brisk river breeze as you dine outside and watch the ships sail down the Savannah River. Plus if one of the passing boats blows its horn, customers can get $1 shots!

It doesn’t matter what you’re looking for, because there’s bound to be a store on River Street that’s got it. With everything from clothing and jewelry stores to peanut and candy shops, River Street stores won’t disappoint.
Get a to-go cup and enjoy the open-container law
There’s no better way to end a hot day than with a nice cold drink and in Downtown Savannah, you can enjoy that drink while strolling down the street. In Downtown Savannah, the possession and consumption of an alcoholic beverage is legal on the street if it is in an open plastic cup of not more than 16 ounces. Get Pralines at River Street Sweets or the Savannah Candy Kitchen
You can’t visit Savannah and not try the warm, fresh pralines at the candy stores on River Street. Walk in front of one of the stores and let the sweet smells draw you in. Go inside and you’ll even get a free sample of a praline as they’re made!
Enjoy First Friday Fireworks & Festivals
If you’re here for the first weekend of the month, be sure not to miss First Friday fireworks over the Savannah River at 9:30 p.m. Every month, the Savannah Waterfront Association throws a fun festival with live music, activities and vendors selling artwork and all kinds of handcrafted goodies. So if you’re still planning your trip, try to make it the first weekend of the month so you can enjoy the fun!
